Beowulf & 4227

I’m shooting an mp 502-385 hp pc no gas check behind 39 grains of imr 4227. I worked the load up, can’t see any pressure signs, but am concerned as I have found no load data. AA upper, 16 inch bbl. 1600 FPS. Good accuracy and clean barrel. Gotta be somebody here using the same combination. Thanks.

As a 33,000 psi cartridge, you will never see pressure signs until you start breaking bolt flanges.
(but) QL says it's a moderate load.**


** YMMV -- take care as QL is NOT the same as a pressure sensor.

Thanks mehavey. I came across a Hornady manual this weekend with data for a 350 jhp. No pressures listed though. I’m going to stick with this load and experiment with different lubes,coatings,hardnesses,checks,etc.

The Alexander Arms load data lists a stout load of H4198 for the 400gr Hawk bullet to get 1800 fps.
Would you be able to use QL to verify if this would be useful for these cast boolits?
