About 20yrs ago I boght a mold and sizer setup from an older gentleman for pistol bullets. So I had never had to figure sizer sizes as it came in a set. Now I am wanting to get back into it and would also like to load for rifle. What sizer size do you folks recommend for 30-06?
.308 seems the obvious answer but have see mention of peole sizing upto .311. Thanks for any help you can offer. akraven

For a good answer, you would need to slug the bore.

The rifle will let you know what it wants.

I asked this question on here years ago. The answer I got was .310". It has always worked pretty well for me.

Slug your bore. It really depends on the gun. Some manufactures have different bore sizes even when the smae model and if the gun is older it might have some ware. .310 seem reasonable but if it doesn't work out you may need a new sizer after you bought it.

I use the biggest size that will allow the round to chamber. .311" and .312" work well in all my .30 calibers.

310-311 seems to be the sizes that work best but if you measure the bbl ang go .002 over you should be fine.
why .002 i don't know but it just seems to work best in my rifles.
but some seem to do their best with boolits that will just chamber with .001 left for neck expansion.

I have to agree with 454PB I shoot all my cast bullet as cast size...Hvae never had a problem in the last 35 years or so....Just be sure to put a lube on them..Good luck...
