A little bit of ammo to try and see how my CSA 1874 Sharps shoots. Need to find an accurate round for deer. Sure hoping the flat points group well in this gun https://i.postimg.cc/3RHXMHV0/9-A0-C901-A-C118-46-D3-B99-D-BC7-A3-CB631-D2.jpg

My C. Sharps 45/70 shoots the Hoch 550 gr Creedmoor bullet the best. On top of 65 grains of Swiss 1 1/2 of course!

Those look nice, hope the wide flat points agree with your rifle too.
The .45-70 is one of my favorite ctgs. too, don't shoot black though.

I have a lot of Kik 3F and Goex 2F. I have had pretty good luck with the Kik 3F in the .45-70

My 45-70s all like the 550 grn old west silhouette bullet over a case of old ensforde 1 1/2f powder compressed about .100 to base of bullet. My rifle are all 1-18 twist. 1 pedersoli barrel 1 badger barrel 1 Al Story barrel (BRC ). I also have a brooks mould for a paper patched bullet ( adjustable cup base) and this also performs best in the 530-550 range. Experiment with loads and find what the rifle likes as to bullet and load.

I normally cast these from 20-1 alloy. I would recommend a alloy in this hardness range maybe even 30-1 with the paper patched ones. Keep them soft to aid expansion and bump up.
