I know it's a ol one and I have read some Old posts. But its been quiet for some
Time.
I was lent this mold thru a friend who wants me to cast some for him/us. Its very close profile to another favorite 457191. I had no knowledge of this mold. I had not cast with a lyman style HP mold.
The night it arrived I was intrigued and was home early with work paper work. As I finished and poured the last cup of coffee, I plugged in the pot. Finished the coffee and papers and went outside to cast some. The mold saw some Neglect so first I cleaned it up so it was proper Looking and placed it atop the pot. I gave it a goodly warm up and started casting. I was using soft lead and I over tinned it a bit cause when I do, my pot drips. WOW, what a beautiful casting mold!! Not one single cull!!! The hp tool makes it slow but makes my cadence about perfect cause out of the hundred plus bullets none where frosty and I never had to really stop for over heating.
I was so pleased, I made a quick search and located another for very nice price and bought it! Got a nice surprise when I opened the box... its number was 457122 CW! Darn thing came MONOGRAMMED TOO! [smilie=w:
I am considering it as a muzzle loader projectile as well as a bullet for my 450 Bushmaster and L Colt (sized down) of coarse Ill try a few in the 45/70 but that one is pretty solid with 400g Speers and 450 RD cast..
Gonna give some to a friend with a socomb and see if he likes it.
Just wondered if anyone had advice or comments about this grand ol timer.
