Encore Full Contour and composite forend fit issue

I just received a Bergara Barrel in .223 Remington with a full contour profile.
At the same time I purchased a composite forend to fit 24 and 26 inch barrels. The forend does not fit the barrel -- I did a search at Midway and google and did not run across a composite forend to fit the full contour profile.

Has anyone opened up the channel on a regular forend? If so how? Also any tips would be appreciated.

The right sized dowel wrapped with sandpaper works well. Doesn't remove too much too fast.

I will have to get a dowel I'm assuming about 7/8 or so do the trick. What grit sand paper or will al/ox or emery cloth work ok?

It looks like the 7/8 dowel guess was spot on. I have measured the diameter at the mounting screws the one nearest the chamber is .98 and the one nearest the muzzle is .88. There is a 5 inch separation between the two holes.
