My Gamemaster 1940 141 did the job today! After being busted 3 times this doe finally tried to sneak past me and a 60 yard shot in the woods got her with the RCBS 200 gr GC boolit hit its mark! We now have the 1st fresh back strap of the year! Nothing like getting it done with cast boolits!

Nice to see good old guns getting the job done.

Congrats! I need to get back to my 141, it's on the list to get a deer with along with several others. Cool old rifles.

Congrats!

Good shooting and good eating!

My 141 is a 25 Remington so though I know they have been used for deer I personally would stick with coyotes and varmints. My 35 Remington is in a waffle top Marlin.

35 Remington Express using the RCBS 200 RFN GC, 60 yards in the woods! Complete pass through 249624 this is how good it shoots! RL-7 boolit sized to .359

That RCBS bullet is a good one. I've shot a lot of them in my .358.

Yours is a good shooter.

Makes you want to go out and get a 6.5 whatever heavy barreled 20 MOA base 12x40x mildot heavy barrel bolt action, doesn’t it?
Nope, me neither.
Perfect shot with a classic combination - way to go!

Good shooting! Love those 141s, been making meat for a good long time. Your load is really close to mine, seems to work well on paper and eats! I took a hog with mine last year, and several deer over the prior years. You really don’t have to push that bullet very fast to get solid results.

Congrats, I’ve got to find one of those to add to the collection

A top candidate for past dumb decisions was letting my 141 go. I am a workmanship and accuracy fanatic and this rifle had both. It was capable of near moa groups @100 yds with a Lyman folding tang receiver sight and factory ammo. Looking back with regret I still don't know why I sold it. Didn't need the money or another rifle. Temporary insanity?

That looks like a good load I'll have to try, as I have the mould, the RL-7, and the Model 14. Have shot several deer with it using jacketed bullets, just have not loaded cast yet in the .35.
I have shot lots of .30 Rem cast in my 14 and 08, and they are very fun to shoot

Yes the old rifle has turned out to be a super shooter! My pound of RL-7 is in a tin can with the cap you push the center to open and push the outside to seal! I hope when I run out of it the new RL-7 will shoot as well! Thanks for all the accolades you guys are why I like this forum!

I have a Rem M81 in 35 remington that I'd like to use just like you did. I've got a handful of the RCBS 35-200 (clone) cast up just waiting.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! I took my first ever deer with one of these. Any idea what speed? And what alloy? Thanks.

I have been wondering how you can even kill deer in Texas with the guns you have in your possession. Here in your neighboring state deer are impervious to anything but a 6.5 launched from a 26” barrel. I could probably help get rid of some of those so you can make room for a Creedmore. Just saying.

I'm using Lyman #2 alloy by the old cast boolit book! I'm thinking around 1800 fps. Like all my cast boolit loads they are about the same speed!

Try the 117 Hornady roundnose or the Sierra 90gr gameking HPBT. Both are soft enough to expand at 25 rem velocities. Hit them in the right place and they will go down just fine.

I have a 141 in 35 Rem, also built in 1940. It is in fact a great shooter also. I don't have a scope on mine but I'm comfortable with it out to a hundred and a little more. Pleasant to shoot, easy to carry, and just plain fun to shoot. I also have a 121 Fieldmaster to go with it. Makes a great pair that covers the the whole gamut in this area.

This is the rifle that has been on my need to own list the longest and also the one I have never been able to buy . Don't see them around here for some reason . Congratulations on the deer but most especially on the fine rifle .

I have a 14-141 & 8 in 35Rem. I just sold a very clean 141/35R with tang. The 8 was my first deer rifle when I was a kid. I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons but my favorite woods deer rifle is the 141/35R. I sold several 30 & 32 Rems when thinning down my collection in last 4 yrs. I've had a couple 25s but never hunted one. I've never shot one scoped because I won't D&T original guns. The last 25 I bought was just to strip the tang sight.

I had 336s in 35R too. Found they all shot the 200gr RN Hornady the best. Loaded at 36.0gr IMR-3031 and the 200gr cast / 33.0gr IMR-4320. I zero guns at 60yds dead 0. If I'm having a good day the 14 & 141 will shoot close to 1", if they don't it's my fault.
