Last week my son Jacob and I went on our yearly ML hunt. I got into camp a couple days before Jacob did. I saw a lot of deer this year but very few bucks. The night before Jacob got there I saw a real nice 4 point. The next morning we were on a ridge and Jacob hisses at me. I look up to see the 4 point run to the right, and a buck up hill looking at me. I asked Jacob which was bigger. He said "down hill", so I went for the smaller buck leaving the bigger one for Jacob. Then Jacob told me that he left his sight in the truck. I went for the smaller buck anyway to save the bigger one for Jacob to try to get.
I went for a neck shot at 30 yards and he was down in an instant.

We got him to the trail, loaded and headed back to camp to skin.

We spent the next three days hunting that buck. Jacob saw him five times and I saw him two times.

Jacob passed a lot of deer on the hunt, all doe's. But he was able to shoot a grouse with his air pistol.

We had a great hunt. Next up is a late cow elk hunt.

We use Lyman 57sml peep sights. A lot of times we take them off when riding Atv's or on rough roads. It keeps them from getting damaged.

I'm glad it wasn't me that had to drag that big guy out of that rugged area. Congratulations.

Good shooting! It's great to hunt with family. My youngest got a doe this am, first time he has had to hunt in the last 10 years. Sounds like a great breakfast!

Good job and thank you for the great pictures. I think I am almost too old to be dragging a deer out of that kind of terrain...…………………….curdog

Ron what are you using on the front sight. A Lyman target peep up front I,m thinking. You helped me with my Lyman GPH & I have the same rear sight
as you. But I did not change the front. But I want to now.

Thank you Ron.
I have several builds that I am just getting started on.
This info just helped me decide on my front sights.
And by the results of your hunt , proved they do work good.
Nice Buck.
And tell your son , I too take my Air Pistol with me when I hunt.
I usually have more fun in the off hours hunting the big game popping off Rabbits ,Squirrels and birds to suplament dinner.
In California we would go Fishing.
But that don't work in Arizona with not many streams or lakes with fish.
Glad you had a great hunt with your son.
