I have been casting my Accurate 36-270c mold and feel this could be a real fine bullet for me.

I loaded a shot a couple today even tho I know they need to season more. I was impatient. Just a case if Trail Boss 22.5g fit to bottom of the bullet and gave me 1480fps and 1 - 1.25” 50 yard groups.

This is a fun load but I would really like to be 2000+ fps. I dont think 2200-2300 is out of reality.

Looking last night I did not locate any data at all. In the past I have used 338 mag data (lead) but I dont find anything past 225g bullets.

Extrapolating I believe about 30g of 5744 aughta put me pretty close. Its no mans land.

Any one know of data for this big Norma Magnum and these heavy lead bullets?

Appreciate the help.

Can only offer heavy 35 Whelen heavy bullet info. Should be a good starting point. Accurate made me the 36-275 E. It has worked well for me. Has a rather small meplat but hollow points well if need be. I had best accuracy with AA2230 at a little below 2000 fps. Paco Kelly has some very enthusiastic 35 Whelen 280 gr cast loads with H414 that I think would be better suited for the .358 Norma case.

One could use 250 grain jacketed bullet loads minus 10% and work up for full effort loads. I shoot a 300 grain cast bullet load in my 358 Norma. I started 10% below heavy bullet loads and worked up carefully. Accuracy is good but I found my alloy needed to be on the hard side of the spectrum. I will not give you my load as it works in MY rifle but has not been pressure tested.
