My 13yo son (about 5-10, 130lbs) fell out of a tree a few feet and landed on a boundary marker stake buried in the ground. It went in about an inch and was about a quarter inch wide hole. It was on his inner thigh right near his anus. We were scared. My immediate thought was femoral tear. I rushed into the kitchen to the sight of blood EVERYWHERE (like a horror movie) and a wife who was freaking out. I laid him down and took a look to ensure it wasn't an arterial bleed. Thank God it was not! I grabbed a huge wad of gauze and packed the area and had him hold it in place with his underwear and his hand. We made a quick trip (very quick!) to the Knoxville Children's ER and got him checked in immediately. All the staff there were SOLID GOLD. They were great, and 3 stitches later and some joking and trash talking on his part, and we were on our way back home.

All the combat first aid/buddy care came back to the forefront and was clicking. It all fell into place and went well.

God's hand was definitely in this situation. The minute the wife turned my boy over to me for first aid she alerted the prayer warriors. In an instant Saints of God were intensely praying for this boy and his care - It was awesome! Both our phones were blowing up with calls and texts from our family and church family with well wishing and encouragement. God has His hand in everything. I take comfort in that.

The boy is now resting on the couch recouping and doing well. No homeschool co-op or karate this week, but he's alive and kicking. PRAISE GOD!!

Sorry to hear about your son, but glad that it wasn't as serious as it could have been. We'll be keeping you and your family in our prayers!

Thank you Lord Jesus. Especially stressful when it's one of the kids. Praise God indeed.

I pulled the rod out of the ground in the woods that he fell on. It was an old electric fence rod. It was sharp on top and square. It had cloth fibers and blood on it. It is in the garage now.

Hang it on the wall of the garage to remind everyone to be careful out there. I'm glad your son is doing well!

Make sure he knows how active God was in his care. We often forget to involve the subject of the miracles when they are less aware of what is happening around them.

West entrance of the park, eh. Wish I knew that last time we were in Gatlinburg.

He knows for sure the Hand of God was in this. We began praying immediately and started first aid/care. We appreciate everyone's prayers. It means a lot. We have been thanking God all day yesterday (I took off of work to be with my family).

Scripture says "We have not been given a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind" I had all 3 going when I was working on my boy and I praise God again for that! I thank God it went as smooth as it did. It was like a switch flipped and it was time to get down, and I got down. God set aside fear, panic and squeamishness and put me to work. He guided me.

My wife did laundry and surprisingly ALL the blood came out of his shorts, shoes, socks and towels (they cut his underwear and sweatshorts off we put him in at the hospital) She then used it as an analogy as to God's power and redemption to clean up our stains in our lives.

I had him laid out on the towel working on him before we went to the hospital.

My son got his stitch out yesterday. He lost the other 2 along the way so They were only able to remove one. He is on an antibiotic and is doing well. Said he has some muscle pain in the area. That's to be expected considering.

Thanks for the update EM. All things considered, thank God for this outcome. It's going to take awhile before your son is 100%. Patience, let it heal in God's time.

He's mending. He still wants to horse around and rough house with his brother and me, but I let him know to take it easy. At 5',10'' and 144lbs hes a big 13YO. Nearly got a mustache and a goatee. He has a boy's heart though and is a big kid.
