My "job" is easy. I have two .308's for hunting deer. Many other "toys" but usually done checking the .308's with less than 10 shots each.

Three to check POI. If good, then two more for group (5 total) and done; otherwise fire three after adjusting scope. If those are at desire POI I fire two more for group ( 8 shots). Rarely need a second scope adjustment but use the same protocol...so total of 11 shots if scope needs two tweaks to get to desired POI.

I could eliminate the "2 for group" as my loads are sub MOA; but it is comforting to know the gun/load is still accurate.

BTW, my rationale for two .308's is that I lost a deer on a 275 yard shot one year. It was a clean miss and a shot I should have made. I had dropped the rifle and later found the scope had shifted about 5 MOA. It was a lower end Nikon. I use Viper scopes now but still have a second rifle just in case.

Have fun testing your arsenal!!
