Since last Windows 10 update, I get over a dozen popups every time I get on the laptop. They are nearly all "Google Chrome youtube crap coming up on lower right of the screen.Paid $35 to AdBlock and there is no difference at all. Getting carpal tunnel from closing all the popups !

I run the Ad Block Plus free and uBlockOrigin Free. I never get ANY pop ups. It will show I had one about the book mark bar. Then you can click on it to allow or not.

I'm running the free Adblock too, and don't get any pop-ups. Might check to make sure it has access to whatever site you are on. It will tell you in the bookmarks bar.

Don't remember which "Settings" screen it was, I believe it's notifications or recommendations I turned them all off and it all went away as these are not popups which is likely why your ad blocker is not catching them

Yeah, these are probably Notifications. One of the dumber features of Win 10 IMO.

Try this:
1) Press the Windows key then type "notifications"
2) Click on "Notification and Action Settings"
3) In the settings window that opens, look for a slider button under "Get notifications from apps and other senders", and click it to switch it off.
4) Close the settings window and go about your life.

That did it ! Thanks, looks like everytime Windows 10 updates, something will rear an ugly head !

Last Windows 10 update sent my computer into the automatic disc repair loop of doom. Taking it in to the comp place to download the photos and docs then blowing it back to day one. Thanks Microsoft

I use firefox and run Adblock Plus free.
Never have pop-ups.
I know ABP catches them because I can see the number of blocks on the tag.

I've seen that a lot of folks have switched to different OSs but doubt I have the skill - plus my volunteer work requires using Word/Access/Excel and I'm just afraid to take that leap without having a spare PC !

There are a ton of versions on “live disk”, either cd [emoji331] or dvd [emoji332] that you just pop in and reboot. They run automatically without changing your computer. Free software that is compatible with Word/Excel, etc. Working on older computers [emoji335] without the worries of being hacked, viruses [emoji3083], etc.
