Hey neighbors and fellow Marlin fans,

I stopped into one of my favorite shops the other day to see if there was anything that I couldn't live without.

On the used rack was a JM Marlin 1894 in 44-40. It was in very good shape. The action was smooth and the trigger pull was probably 3-4 lbs. 24" octagon barrel. Nice wood.

I only posted this because this particular caliber seems rare. They want $989 for it. I thought that was high but the cheapest one on Gunbroker is $1500.

The shop is Barnwood Arms in Ripon Ca. I am not affiliated with them in any way. I have done business with them and they are very nice and easy to get along with. Good gunsmith on staff also.

Please buy this before I tap my ever shrinking savings account.

I wouldn't touch a 44-40 with a ten foot pole

Barnwood is a favorite place of my Son and mines to cruise for unusual guns and super good deals on some nice guns when I’m there. I’ m sending my Son over this afternoon to go look at it.
Barnwood is the last of the good gun stores anywhere near Molesto.

I paid $700 for mine over ten years ago....if it were closer, I'd been making hard offers to bring it home

I still like my Win '92, cal 44WCF, 24" Oct. first year production. Shoots into a touching cluster at 75 yards.
Shot my second last buck with it. One shot one kill, 65yds 200gr FNHP/1330fps. Dropped dead
in 70 yards after a thru shot to heart.
Now its the turn of my Marlin 336CB 38-55/265 gr FNgc /28gr Re7/1740fps. Still waiting for a shot.
