Getting ready for season and I decided to hunt with my TC 308 1/12 twist

The load is a lee 150 fn over H414 at 100 yards shot with a vortex 3-9 scope

Great job. Now you need to check if 38.5 and 39.5 are good to, if its not over max. Go right in the middle and you will have a great load no mater what temp it is. Lower temp = lower pressure. So if you can find a load that the gun likes around 39 you should be golden.

Will do, I was just trying to figure out pressure signs and I’m glad to say even at 40.6grn I still had blowback on the case neck and very rounded primers, I may try 42 and 43 to just see if that’s another accuracy node or not. I am trying to get around 24-2500fps just to see if I can do it, that’s the whole reason I got this whopping $170 rifle is to see if I can get some decent high speed with the 1/12 twist. I’ll stick to around 2000fps for hunting around eastern Ky that’s all you need I can shoot up to 700 yards on my farm but I don’t I limit cast boolits to 250 yards if the boolit is going 2000fps and under 250 if it’s below 2000

I shot many deer with a .30-30 bullet loaded in a .308 case, and I ran the pressure/velocity to where it was basically a .30-30+P.
it was a mauser barrelled in .308.

If you load a 150gr cast to 30-30 speeds, then you what about the same thing I was loading........it is deadly on Bambi's.

I agree 100%.

My favorite load in my 30-30 is the Lee 150F, gas-checked, over 25 gr of 3031. Deadly accurate.

I recently found a Mauser 98 re-barrelled to 308 for a ridiculously low price. For giggles I decided to try the same load, The Lee 150F over 25 gr of 3031. The results were 1 1/4" groups all day long at 100 yards.

I stopped there.

What’s the velocity of that 25 grn of Imr3031?

I have never measured it. But I have a chronograph day set aside for next week. I will add this to the list of loads to check.

Have found the same thing with several different rifles....

This was a Remington LTR .308....
Load was a Federal case, CCI BR primer, Sierra 168 MK and Winchester 748 powder:

45.5

46.0

A Remington 700 SF in .257 Weatherby did the same thing with Reloader 25 and a 120 Speer BT. Started at about 1 moa and shrank down to .3 moa and then the groups started opening up...

From left to right the groups keep shrinking until they blow back open with group 5 all the way to the right...

...every gun has a sweet spot for a certain bullet....
