I have a .32 Stevens Favorite. I had is converted to center fire. I still have the ordinal rimfire breach block. With this rifle I have a .32 shot barrel. Its a smooth bore with a fairly tight choke. So I have made shot shells for it.
At first I only had #6 shot. A friend brought me a whole bag of each #7 1/2 shot and #10 shot. Nice friend huh? I am going to try some paper experiments first.

We have the introduced Eurasian Collard Doves here. The state doesn't regulate the taking of these doves here. Just have to have a hunting license. They are a pest here around cities, silos, etc. They are easy to get close to. 50 to 75 feet. Could probably just shoot them with a bullet.

My Father, my brother and his son, myself and my son spent many a day in a dove field together. Dad is no longer with us, and the 2 boys live in other states now, so those days are gone for good. They left great memories though. james

Wow! That's cool. Hunting doves with a tiny shotgun will be a challenge be sure to post some results.

Good luck, I have a hard enough time with a 12 gauge!

This is more like Dove shooting not Dove hunting. They are fatter, slower and fly towards you or in circles.

They are like pigeons around a barn, dairy, etc.

Have those Eurasians here also. They have chased all of our Morning Doves out of our neighborhood. Havent seen a Morning Dove all summer. Hate those Eurasians just like pigeons. Kill a bunch for me.

Let us know how you do. My first reaction is that a Favorite, even a 1915 model, won't stand charges sufficient kill a dove even at 50 feet. But I've never tried it.

Yesterday evening, it took 10 shots to get 4 doves. If I hold high it dispatches them quickly. I prefer the shot shells with #7 1/2 shot. But with practice the #6 shot shells might be better. Easy to get within 50 feet. Didn't try the #10 shot shells, due to results when testing. See the end of the video I posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=880DLsVTxGA

The .32 being a sub-sonic round seemed to cause little stress the non-target birds, both Eurasian Collard doves and other bird species.
