Cimarron Chiappa M92 44-40

Recent acquired a Cimarron Chiappa 44-40 in almost new condition. Was hoping it would shoot the 44-40 load I use mostly in my Ruger Vaquero OM and it does. I use the Lee TL 240 SWC at 950 fps (7 1/2" barrel) in the Ruger as it regulates to the sights. That load is shooting very well, as good as I can hold and see the sights these days, at 2" groups (5 - 10 shots) at 50 yards running right at 1050 fps. It's all need for plinking or jack rabbits as I don't intend on hunting anything bigger nor using BP in them.

The Rossi Puma 44-40 that I once had doted on that same bullet over 6 grs of Unique. Mild but dropped called in Turkey with no fanfare- just a brief final flapping of wings.

Greetings
I have a fond spot in my being for that 44 WCF cartridge. Have several in model 92's but alas no Ruger revolver yet. Some how they keep evading me.
We use a Saaco mold that drops a 220 grain FNPB.

Thank you Outpost75, for that awesome baseline info, especially with the vintage ammo and vintage revolver. I have my own 44-40 revolver project, with a repo I bought 20 years ago. I will start my own thread on it when I start shooting it again. Also, I need to buy a chronograph.

I looks very close to what was claimed for the .44 Henry Flat rimmed cartridge in pistol and Henry rifle. Anyone have any data on that round? GF
