Just what I didn't need! But in great shape, half magazine and a Marble Tang Sight for $270, how could I say, NO? They also had a Marlin Safety Model (1894) in .32-20 with a Marble for the same price. I was sorely tempted but what can the .32-20 do that I can't duplicate and exceed with a .30-30? Another temptation was a Stevens Favorite (new model) for $135. They got in a bunch of guns on consignment yesterday, from a lady whose father had died in Florida. The guns were held at the Tallahassee Police Dept. for a year until the legal details were worked out and they picked up some scars from that. Most of the guns were Marlin rifles and Ruger pistols.

Just remembered that I've never owned a Marble Tang Sight before and I don't know how to use it. I mean make sight adjustments. Anyone have instructions?

Still got the box but can't find the destructions. Mine is a new one maybe they work the same as yours. The knurled barrel arount the sight post is clockwise for up, the windage knob is clockwise for right. (Hope I got that right). That price with that sight would have given me a fit too. I have a 336A in 30-30 but it has a Williams peep, made in 1949 with ballard rifling.I think it is the best handling rifles I have. Have fun with that one.

Get back there imediately and buy that 3220. Its one of the most fun lever action rounds you will ever play with and if you dont like you surely could turn that over for a profit!!!!

Go back and get the favorite! Those guns are indestructable. They even work if a spring breaks! I have three, that have came down the line from grandpa. I'd get the 32-20 too, at that price. How come I can't find a deal like that over here?

Cast you later, SG

I would have gotten the 32-20 FIRST and then maybe gone back for the 336A [smilie=1:

I'm mighty fond of my 336A also which was a 1977 issue IIRC. Shoots great with the RCBS 30-180FN and a caseful of H-414 and seems to handle much better than any of the shorter barreled models.

Did they make 336As in 1977? I thought these were all pre-Microgroove...

They had 'em in 1976. Suggested list price $132.95 in 30-30 only
Per the Blue Book the 336A mfg. 1948-1962 and reintroduced in 1973 - 1980.

Hah! Go back and get the 32-20. If you don't want it, and it's a completely different animal than the 30-30, I'll take it. I'll scare up the money somewhere.

The 32-20 is a light varmint and junk animal round. Coon and possum and such. Coyote up close. The 30-30 is a deer round. Very different rounds for very different purposes. Very contemporary with one another, too.

The lil woman bought me the one up top in the pic in 1978, NIB. I asked her while ago what she paid for for it, said she could'nt really remember exactly. I asked her if it was over $200, she said "noooo, well under $200."

jawjaboy, That rifle looks to be in great condition, much like mine, you have been kind to a fine hunting rifle.

Scrounger, I believe it was 1953 when Micro-groove was introduced and there has been 3 versions with the last being the best IMO. I would like one in .35 Rem or,I have dreamed of this for years, have another .30-30 bored to .35-30.
Have you got the .32-20 yet?

A local shop had one of these last week with scope, sling, ammo, etc for $350. It sure was tempting, but I had just bid a 336 RC (straight stock) on Gun broker...won the auction Saturday! The 336A is somewhat new to me; probably hadn't paid enough attention.

They are selling the h--- out of black rifles and semi-auto pistols around here; Couldn't believe the crowd on a Sunday! Guns going across the counter like cold ones at a ball game in August. I'll go back by ASAP and see if the 336A is still there and check my safe for trading goods.
