Thinking about a Mech Tech .45 ACP CCU for my G21. Have done some research here and other sites. I believe Mech Tech is a quality product but my concern is that the Mech Tech blow-back mechanism may require "near-max" / +P loads to function reliably. My usual .45 ACP load is Promo 4.6 ~ 4.8 gr under a 200 ~ 230 gr. boolit which is hardly high-end. I sure don't want anything that requires a special loading.

The voice of experience from anyone who uses a Mech Tech .45 ACP would sure be appreciated.

No experience with mech-tech, but my hi-point carbine is blowback and +p rated and will eat a wide range of loads. My prefered opossum popper is 4.6 red dot under lees 200rf and it shoots very well out of the carbine.

I have Mech Tech's very early versions in 40 and 45acp. They do not require hot loads, in fact I have not found a load they do not feed yet.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll have to get one ordered.

I'll second that. I have one in .45 acp and one in .460 Rowland for which I'm working up some loads with the lee 255 RNFP. The .45 acp eats everything a magazine will feed it. Mine both have Charles Daly 1911 lowers rather than Glocks. Both have red do sights. GF

I have a 10mm and a 40 & ABSOLUTELY NOT NEED MAX!

As a matter of a fact. Its a blow ack action NOT a locked breech like thr Glock. So max loads with some powders CAUSE ISSUES!!! Ya see blow backs with hot & wrong powder TEAR CASES IN HALF!!

Bot be afraid to experiment. But know it can do this. The front half usually ces right out with a appropriate sized bore brush.

The bolt is large and heavy and the guns ren very well. My 10 LIKES A firm
Hold to shoot well. Hole it light and loose and you WONT LILE groups.

My 40 is forgiving as hell! The 10 is a beast! My 10came thru with a poor crown and shot like
Crap. I had my smith crown it and its quite accurate. I run red dots and 2” 100yard groups are very doable with good bullets.

I shoot mostly cast thru mine and 2” 50 yard are common and 99% of what I do with these.

But I have taken Coyote with a 2k fps 135g hp... WOW! Turns them almost Inside out!

Good products! Dont forget the frrd ramp go for the better one too. $$ well
Spent.

Howdy
We have a 45 ACP 1911 old type model with the attached steel frame. Shoots whatever load I have run through our 1911's since we bought it about 5 years back. Have a red dot on it which makes for a fast on target rig that hits whatever the red dot is on.

FINALLY.....sorry I waited so long. Got my MechTech .45 acp CCU last week for my G21 and it's outstanding. Handles PC'd Lyman 452374, 452630, 452460 and the Accurate 45-200E perfectly. I got the basic fixed stock model and put a red dot on it.....it's perfect. Now I have a nagging itch for a 10MM.

I would not mind a 10mm also for Glock mags. I think it would make a fine pig thwaper.

How difficult is it to “rack”. Can a small weak person do it?

Since it has a bolt handle, it is (in my estimation) certainly easier to rack than a an auto pistol slide. The degree of difficulty is highly subjective.
