When one has a real revelation in the conversion experience, and hears Christ calling to them deep within the core of their being and hearts, there is no real need for that person to have an explanation. They KNOW, and that's always better than having a mere explanation. However, explanations may come in handy if we encounter another who is seriously open to explanations, and who honestly wants to know what it is that we believe in and why. Those evocative moments when Christ speaks to us are NOT just our imaginations, guilty consciences, or anything but simply Christ appealing to our inner being, our soul, to come back to him, whence we all came. How logical and rational is that? It's so simple, only those who don't want to see will argue with it. Do we serve a wondrous and loving God, or what?
