I just picked up some linotype that the supplier, a reliable old dude that buys and sells lead, smelted into ingots. Just for kicks I chiseled a chunk, melted it into a small blob, and tested for hardness an hour later with my Lee tester. It came up at around 19.3 BHN.

Does lino hardens with time?

Yes. Antimony/lead alloys age harden.

The higher percentage of antimony, the faster it reaches maturity.
