7 x 61 Sharp & Hart

Looking at the dimensions between the 7 x 16 Sharp & Hart, I was wondering if anyone here has formed this from 7 mm Remington mag brass, and what are the steps and dies involved.

I have an odd chambering and think that this is what it is. I would like to find some brass and dies, but need to verify that is what I have before spending a lot just to find it's not right.

Yes, My DAD, had a Custom one in the early 1960's. He bought 7mm Rem Mag ammo, pulled the bullets and dumped the powder.
Then partially size the brass in a 7x61 S&H FL die, trim and FL Size all the way. Dump in a medium charge and seat the pulled bullets.

I never questioned the half size/trim FL size. Just the way he did it.

And I know it worked. I always use new Remington brass to form to other calibers.
It's ANNEALED already.
I've necked up .280Rem to make .8mm-06, Rem .223 to make 7mmTCU, And .35Whelen down to make .338-06.

Have you done a chamber cast?

If you determine you have a 7x61 chamber, it's much easier to buy Norma 7x61 brass (called Super 7x61 nowadays). Good brass and prices are reasonable.

Chamber cast first.

I was given a rifle built on a 1903, but no one could identify
what it was chambered for. I sent the chamber cast to RCBS,
they id'd it as a .30x61, made dies for it and told me what
brass to use.

These days, as lotech says, Norma brass is available so
reforming brass is not necessary. I learned a lot in this process.
