home made muzzle extension.right or wrong

I want to make a can type muzzle addition to help keep fireball contained. I was thinking take a piece of cut off shotgun barrel and solder a plug on the end tapped to fit barrel threads. Is there a right or wrong way concerning this? I am to frugal to buy something if I can make it. I do not want to put time into it and find out I goofed. The barrel is a 16 inch 7.62x39 caliber that really likes h335 jammed tight in cartridge hence the BIG fire ball!

Should be ok. You should get your design from noveske. Not sure if you heard of them. It's pretty much just an open cylinder that engulfs the flame.

No reason it wouldn't work.

Another option is dig around, and find a different, maybe faster powder that doesn't make such a big flash to start with.
Work up a load with it that does what ya want it to do.

I was going to say what Ed did, H335 is famous for muzzle flash. Many powders should shoot just as good or better without the flash.

H335 causes night blindness when you are spotlighting coyotes. We found that out in '72 with an 18-1/2" Rem Mohawk 600 6mm Rem. [emoji41]
You could weld or epoxy tubing to an extra flash hider but you'll still see flame.
Try IMR 4198 or 3031 in it and see if it's better.
I like H335, too but that's the only drawback.

My thoughts.

You could purchase a cheap solvent trap from Ebay 10 to 15 bucks.

Just do not use the baffles inside of it. (Otherwise your breaking the law)

They come pre threaded. And would hide the flash very nicely.

Quit shooting 335 ball powder. Use the equivalent burn rate extruded powder and forget your add on gadget.

took a 12 ga barrel cut off laying in scrap and cut a 5 inch piece. A little machining and it now fits on. Left the shot gun bead on just to play with some heads!! Looks kinda like the M1a, and monday i'll see if it helps.
