I'm seeking loading info for the 9.5x57mm (.375 dia) cartridge, as used in the Model 1910 Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifles.
Have looked in Cartrdiges of the World, and elsewhere.
Anyone use this fine old round anymore?
thanks for any input,
regards,

is this similar to the 9.3x57, which is a 8x57 mauser case necked up to 9.3? i have a 9.3x57 and love it.

Yes, it's similar to the 9.3x57, just .375 diameter instead of .366.
I've use the 9.3x62 and truly enjoy/like it.
Looking forward to using the 9.5x57 round.
Of course the Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifle is a major part of the enjoyment
to be had with this project...

i haven't used cast in my 9.3x57, but i loves varget with j-bullets. i also have a 375-284, which is the 284 necked up, and it also loves varget with j bullets. i have used cast in it, but have had luke warm results at best so far. varget worked fine for that, but i have leading issues to deal with.

I currently shoot the 9.5 X 56.7 M-S in a custom Remington . My Jacketed bullet load is 47 grains of IMR 4064 with the 270 grain Hornady spire point in .375, and a standard CCI LR primer. It is very accurate and a quick killer on the several eastern whitetail I've taken with it. I've found the 375 J D Jones on the 444 Marlin case to be a near rimmed duplicate of the M-S 9.5. BvT

NEI has some nice looking bullets for the big 375's.
http://www.neihandtools.com/catalog/index.html

I've the RCBS 37-250-FN. From 50/50 it makes a 270 grain bullet.
They are a short nosed (.385"L) gas checked bullet with O.L. of .980". Don't know if they would work out on your cartridge?
I'd steer people away from this mold because the bullet is a bit large for the RCBS blocks with double cavities. I've encountered the SBS issue with this one.

If you think this bullet would work in your 9.5x57 I do have some cast up in the white.

The NEI catalog has what looks like any .375 bullet you could want. Even a paper patch.

Well, it took me a while to figure out what LLA was, but eventually I did. Now I'm really curious what the dreaded SBS issue is. I might have it, and be powerless to address it without more info. I've only been casting for 45 years, or so, and some of these things are pretty new to me.

NHlever,
I've been casting for 30 years, never heard of SBS, but the sound of it makes me want to boil my molds in lye.

It seems you have to spend as much time learning the new lingo as you do casting, I think I'll just stumble along doing things the old way. At the very least it'll save my molds from a lye bath.

I've barely moved into the world of computers, can't hardly text, certainly don't know what SBS means but it must be bad!

I shoot a MS 1905 originally in 9x56MS that I opened up the rotted bore and rechamberd to 9.5x57, and shoot jacketed bullets only. I used to load 270gr. but dropped that and now only shoot 235gr. Speer semi spitzer. I use 46.0gr.IMR 3031 for 1990fps. and also 48.5gr. for 2310fps. I've pushed this bullet to 2475fps w/57.0gr IMR4320,groups well but it doesn't shoot to the iron sights and is too violent to be controllable in MS rifle(very light weight)...did kill my 1st bear with it,very dead.

I have a 9x57 that needs rebored, and would like to have it taken out to .376". I've known about the 9.5x57mm, but expect that I'll have to buy a reamer to open the chamber. Dies will be another issue.

My powder of choice in the 9x57 was 4895 and would expect its slightly larger bored sibling to work well with it also.

You might want to try J E S. 541-942-1342 @ 35caliber.com for your 375 rebore as he will open up the neck area of the chamber as part of his service. CH4D could do the dies foir you, unless you could get 373 JDJ dies to work out.

Actually, all you would need is a neck & throating reamer to cut the new neck & throat of course.

SBS? Maybe SES. Secondary Explosion Syndrome, or something close.
