Hello all,
I currently have about 70 lbs of lead alloy (12 bhn) and I am in search what to mix to get the bhn up to 15-16 for 9mm. I was thinking of buying some super hard or linotype from rotometals. What would be the best route and or mixture to hit my mark? Thanks

Try water dropping. It should get you to where you want to be.

If your lead is 12bhn it most likely has some antimony content. If so it will harden if dropped in water.

Here is a good thread about water dropping that is worth reading. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?291860-Hardness-of-water-dropping

Yup I agree. At a 12 now. Simply water drop them straight out of the mold.

I powder coat my cast. So I have been enjoying softer bullets actoss the board with excellent results. A 12 is my target for most hand guns. It will expand at 11-122-+ yet with the PC zero fouling is left.
My moderate rifles. Meaning under 2K fps get a targeted at 16bhn. I simply haven’t needed more. But the few times that I have all I need to do is water drop the 16 to hit near 20 bhn. (After seasoning)

Good luck

Or air cool and run the starting load instead of max n your powder charge. Saves powder too.

I would start off by simply adding 2% more tin (pewter) size the boolit .0015 over the slugged diameter and see what happens.

You didn't mention what gun you were going to shoot these in or if you were going to coat the boolits or lube them.
