I acquired an original Winchester 1876 in 40-60, good condition. I took it all apart, cleaned it up, verified that the lever links were in very good condition, and bought some BP ammo from Buffalo Arms. Took it out, shot 10 rounds through it and had fun. Now that I have 10 empty cases I want to try reloading smokeless powder in a conservative load in it. Anyone here try it or have any suggested loads I might start with? I have a box of new 210gr bullets to use and I'm not interested in shooting competition, just some hog hunting at about 75-100 yds. Thanks, Mike.

Hey oldrover, my 40/60 is a chaparral model ,, I shoot 210-215 gn, w/ H4198 & TB & RL-7 ,, I'v always felt the 40/60 was ( is ) under rated as far as stopping power ,, you will really enjoy the low recoil ,, so go get'm.
