That's about double what hi-tech charged for the last he had. Man are things going up.

I wouldn't pay $10/lb. for it. I like it and use it a lot, but let's face it, it's not the "best" powder for anything. I bought a good bit of it because it was $4.00/lb. at the time, kicking myself for not having bought it when it was $3.00/lb. There are other powders available at that $10.00 price that would be more generally useful, I think.

Exactly, word for word, what Ricochet said.

To add to Ricochets opinion I find it shoots in many things: 308 based, 06 based, 223, 22-250, 30-30 and the X57's. It does not do great in most of them but allows you to shoot a powder with j-word bullets that will be 3-400 fps below factory speeds with reasonable accuracy and kill paper and game with it. I would find a better solution @ $10 a lb. Gianni

I wouldn't pay $10/# either. That said, when it was cheap we got some -- enough for awhile. I shoot it in an '06 for 200 yd reduced course high power. Can't ask for anything more than what it delivers with the 168 bthp - ES in the teens and SD single digit with a velocity @ 2395. Best SF prone was a 199-11X. When it's gone, it's gone, and no crying over it. Clean up is a bitch with all the black goop, but the black fouling seems to help a lot with copper fouling which is almost none.

I know NOBODY here would do this, but don't neglect cleaning out that black goop. Rumor has it that it will soon form a very hard carbon ring in the throat that will size down your boolits/bullets so they rattle on down the bore after passing through, and the stuff is extremely difficult to get out after it builds up a bit.
