Just finished my Martini project. It was a large frame .22 club gun with Parker Hale vernier rear sight. I had a 1903A3 2 groove Springfield barrel so I fitted and chambered it to 30/40. No wood when I got the action so I put an old sporter stock on it and made a fore arm from an old busted trap door carbine . Total cost so far is just under $400.
I went to the range to give it the blow up test with Winchester factory 180 gr. I shot 20 rounds through it and all was well. Used the first 15 rounds to set the range plate and zero. The last 5 rounds I shot for grope and from a fore arm rest it put all 5 in a .877 circle. Thats the good part the bad is the fount sight is way to high I am using the issue sight so will have to lower it about .500 inch .
May be I should try some boolits before I start lowering the sight. I built this to shoot real boolits so what do you think.

I wouldn't mess with it till you try it and see.
I'll be trying to zero a small frame in 7MM Waters, that I just got back. Scout scope and had a saftey added to the triiger guard. Just got my dies in the mail today and have a pile of 30-30 brass to size down and load. This should be fun. Got to love those Martini actions.

These little Martini actions are fine! I've been shooting my Australian Cadet rifle that I rebarreled & chambered for 30-30 AI for 25 years now & it's still my favourite plinkin' gun! Most of the 20,000 plus rounds I've shot from it were cast & this little rifle has taught me more about offhand shooting than anything else! I'm sure you'll have a "blast" with your 30-40 Exblaster!
