Taurus 44 special cylinder size?

Anyone shooting cast in a Taurus 44 special? I'm trying to figure out what
diameter bullet to use. The exit holes are around .432 or slightly bigger.
I'm thinking of casting a .432 dia. bullet on the softer side to see if I can
get it to perform a little better. What do you think?

I have experience with two of the Taurus 44 Specials. The one my son has and mine both use .432 diameter bullets. I shoot the Lyman Keith over a variation of Skeeter's load. They are both very accurate with cast.

I never slugged a barrel. I always use bullets that require a little resistance going through the cylinder throats. Both my RH and Bulldog have throats @ .432................I size my bullets to .433 diameter.

Bill, How did you get a Lyman mold to drop .432 dia?
I'm lucky to have mine drop at .429
I just ordered a NOE .432-224 gr SWC mold. For the
few bucks more, you can be sure to get the diameter
you want.

A few months after I started casting for my revolvers I began sizing bullets to the same diameter as the cylinder throats, and my 7 revolvers still get the same treatment. In my opinion/experience this is the perfect size for revolver bullets, unless the groove diameter of the barrel is larger than the throat diameter (99.5% of the time it isn't). Also works with all alloys I've tried...
