I think I’m going to pick up a ruger carbine in 9mm and I’ve noticed a few new drum mags that should be compatible with this rifle. Has anyone had any experience with glock drum mags? Seems like a fun combo with this carbine.

Looking at google I’m trying to figure out who all makes them. Curiously, they all have 3 letter names, which makes it very confusing lol. Here’s a list.

CAA
KCI
RWB
SGM
SHK
and, PROMAG

I would take one if given to me and say thanks.

I stuck with 31/33 round stick magazines for my ruger PCC.

Just because they stack/transport nicely and are close to 50 rounds ;)

I have a g26 to share magazines with as well.

Agree that the stick mags are better in general. Drums are prone to being problematic...there is just so much more geometry to contend with in design.

Yes, I’ll probably pick up a 33rd stick as well, but cmon, a drum mag is A DRUM MAG! they are cool, and 50rd is too fun to deny.

I’m interested also but that’d be a lot of weight hanging off your gun. The 33 round mags are quite a bit heavier than the 17 rounders. It might not make a big difference on a rifle but I’d bet you’d notice it.

A guy that I worked with had two, but he couldn't install them properly.I suggested he go back to the place that he bought them and have the dealer show him how to install them properly. He most definitely had to use two hands to fire his pistol....

I suspect they'd be handy for drive by shootings.....

Isn't it possible to get extensions to make a stick mag hold 50 or so bang beans ?

Here in queensland, we're only allowed 10 shot magazines...

Yes a few companies offer extensions to double plus the round counts!!

KCI are the Korean military imports. I caught a deal where the 33 round sticks were under $10. I don't own a Glock but I do have a Ruger PCC.

Those KCI mags work every bit as good as Glock mags and were a lot cheaper. I've also had good luck with the Magpul Glock mags.

The kci 30+rd mags I’ve seen have all been around 30$ which is close to what the glock version cost. I’d sure try a few at 10$! I’ll have to keep an eye peeled.

I think the "practicality" of a huge magazine is not all that important, it's the "Cool Factor"!

Exactly! And none of us here can fault a man for having fun with guns and succumbing to a little cool factor now and then. I have guns that are practical, and guns that are certainly not. And some that can be both, which I hope this ruger will fall into.
In my time with guns I’ve tried to get a drum mag for various rifles and I’ve yet to have a satisfactory result from any of them. The ruger 10/22 ones all sucked, the Chinese metal AK mags didn’t work for my application either, and a few others were just meh.
One thing that is appealing about some of these is the thumb lever which ratchets the follower down and thus makes loading a lot less strain on my hands which is always a welcome feature. But, if they don’t work, then they don’t work.

ETS makes decent stick mags too.

How do guns shoot with those heavy mags handing off? Someone I knew brought a Glock with 33 round mags to a steel plate match one weekend. It looked like the magazine really messed with the feel and balance of the gun. He wasn't a bad shooter normally but it was taking him 10-15 rounds to hit 5 targets. Or maybe he and his college buddies had been out too late the night before. . .

Drum mags are fun. At one time I had access to a Thompson with drum and ammo to burn.

if you want cheap high capacity glock 9mm mags this is THE ONE to buy. https://palmettostatearmory.com/ets-glock-18-9mm-31-round-magazine.html Ive tried about all of them. Kci's are the last ones id buy. Ive had feeding problems and the feed lips bend very easily. You can get these for 12 bucks a piece. Ive got 15 of them and never had a problem with a single one. Two of them with a mag coupler give you 60 rounds plus for 30 bucks including the coupler.

With the concerning events of the weekend, if you want sticks or drums, it might be better to order sooner, rather than later.
