I need a mold to produce a .625" roundball in pure lead, but have been unable to find one. Tanner (in England) will make a mold in any diameter I order, accurate as to cavity diameter to.001", but cannot tell me what actual diameter mold cavity will give me the needed .625" pure lead cast ball. Their best advice was to order a .628" mold in the expectation that the ball would be close enough. So; my question is: does anyone have any experience with Tanner's RB molds, and could you please tell me what nominal mold diameters produce what actual ball diameters in pure lead?

Thanks;

Mike, I saw your question on another forum, but I'll answer it here. I have 3 Jeff Tanner RB moulds, .530", .600", and most recently, a .619" one. Using pure Pb, they cast .527" - .528", 597" - .598", and .618" - .619", respectively. That is certainly the equal of the Lee, Lyman, and RCBS RB moulds that I use.

Thanks, Maven!

That's exactly the sort of info I was hoping for.

I hope I'm wrong, but I believe Mr. Tanner is no longer in the business of making moulds.

His son is continuing the business after Jeff passed. That’s from the email I got from them.

They no longer accept credit cards. I think PayPal is their preference.
