This is the standard round ball for the .44 percussion revolvers. It also makes a very nice light weight bullet for the .45s, the .45 Colt, Auto Rim and the ACP.

I tumble lube the balls, with the 45/45/10 Alox formula, loaded in the .45 Colt over 6 gr of BE these make a very enjoyable plinking load. They are surprisingly accurate, out to 100 yards, further than most of us shoot a revolver.

In the Auto Rim or a .45ACP revolver, just for fun I seated some of these flush with the case mouth of .45ACP cases, over 2 gr of Hodgdon Clays, in my Ruger BH .45Colt/ACP, they averaged 475 fps, a "pellet pistol" load. The same ball crimped at the mid line in .45ACP brass over 7 gr. of BE, produced 1100 fps, and functioned the action in my 19ll guns.

Round balls are not just for percussion guns, they work well in cartridge applications, two in the .45 Colt case make a pretty good anti-personnel load.
