Friend has a music CD that someone made for him.
How can I make a copy of it????
Is it just as easy as downloading it to my computer, and burning it to a disc????

Yes. You will need a read/write drive. A standard CD-ROM drive will not work ( it has been over a decade since I have done it but I doubt cd tech has changed as its near obsolete).

Yes I use Nero and it has a copy function.

What do you mean near obsolete , the 8 track in my 68 Chevelle was displaced by the cassette tape player, after cassettes got hard to find I had to get a CD player and I have a great collection of Rock and Roll on CD's .....now it's obsolete ? Now What's Next ?? Sometimes I just hate technology !
I wish they would make up their minds ... I'm tired of buying new music stuff for my car .

I am stopping at CDs
Started with records had a whole lot of records
Sold them
Now analog is cool because the sound is warm
No, not for me, I remember broken records, skipping, hissing, crackling
Then tapes and 8 Tracks
Loved it when the tape got wound-up and destroyed
Then CDs
Now mp3/4/whatever
Streaming, I do do that as it is free
But never giving up the CDs

Yea i remember up grading to a cassette in my car left the 8 track though had to many tapes. Also remember switching to fm what a wonder you could listen in stereo.

If you play in vehicle, just remember that all cd players in vehicles aren't created equal and won't play MP3's. For best results, do not burn to a re-writable cd but if you do, make sure it "closes" the cd.

oldies, but strange oldies.
most of it I've never heard before.
Just didn't care for it.
I like 50's and 60's, some 70's.
Soft rock, rock and roll, easy listening.
I've always wanted to make a CD of my favorites, but heard it was now against the law to do that.
Used to make cassette tapes all the time.

My 2014 Dodge Ram quad cab has a USB port in the console and my Ipod is plugged into it. I copied a ton of CD's onto my computer (using Itunes), then downloaded them onto to my Ipod, and now I have about 2 1/2 DAYS worth of music to choose from whenever I'm driving my truck! (And yes, I've successfully copied CD's disc to disc using "Nero" on my computer too ...)

If you burn uncompressed songs like those on a normal audio CD, then you can store around 80 minutes of music on a CD

If you use an MP3 CD, you can fit many albums onto one MP3 data disc, which delivers hours of music

The short answer is probably.
You do need to know the format and if it is a CD or DVD, then you need the correct drive in your computer, and your audio equipment (home or car or portable) needs to be able to play that format.

I use a program called ImgBurn when copying disks. (can't be copy-righted)....It always works fine for my music disks and video disks of my own creation....and best part is its freeware.

It's definitely possible with the correct hardware and software. I'm using a 6 year old laptop right now, and it doesn't have a built in optical drive. I bought an external when I bought the computer, but found out that I rarely ever use it.

At this point, it's been many years since I bought a CD. I can go to several various digital sources and buy the album and have it downloaded before I could have walked out to the driveway to start my truck to drive to a store if I had to buy a physical copy.

I replaced the stereo in my truck with one with a USB port years ago after I got fed up with XM's prices just going up and up. I have over a week's worth of music on a USB drive. Or I could connect my phone with bluetooth, but the sound quality isn't as good.

Autos now come with USB thumb drive port so I use it mostly. Works on the computer also. Still need to know the play data rate of the player, most will take 96k sampling. Thumb drive, if it doesn't work, erase and reduce sampling rate or use different format. Liked XM but cost is too high. anymore - also owns pandora now. High capacity thumb drives are cheap now and take up much less space. It is legal to copy any music only if just for personal use. Some commercial CDs are 'fixed' so you can't copy. If the CD is mp3, just copy to your hard drive (or a thumb drive), then use a writable CD in a CD writer drive and copy to the CD. Nero is good but not free anymore.
