I had a trapper in 357. Top unit. swapped it for an 1866 Uberti. I have had a lot of trouble with th 1866 and look like getting it back. I'm disappointed about the 1866, but I loved that little rifle, it will be welcomed back into the fold. The trapper would probably be a better bet for a truck gun. If it is going to get a pasting under the seats or similar, think about covering it with camo tape. It will protect it some.

I bought one last month.legacy with a 24 inch barrel.I have only had it out twice shooting the 158 gr lee swc gc.this rifle shoots just added a reciever 5D sight to help out the old eyes  in this area a trapper is a hard find in any cal.

I've got a short barrelled 94 in 357. Very good rifle. Added a peep sight for these old eyes and can really hit with it. It likes the Lee tumble lube round nose bullet just fine. And about everything else. Wadcutters shoot great in it. It took a while to wear it in...slick it up...but I think and hope it will not wear out. It's got a longer lever throw than the Marlin..so it would be slower in fast shooting..It's like carrying a bb gun in the field though

Hope this helps..\

I'd start looking at www.walmart.com .
They are selling '94's for very attractive prices.
You print out the data (stock number) from the web page and take it to your local store for special order (50% down payment).
I was looking at a .357 trapper for $369 + tax, but picked up a new .357 trails end for even less at a local gun show.
:Fire: Waiting for a trip to the range, right after Christmas :-D
