Does Lee, or any other die maker offer a gas check seating die that is not dependent upon using a lubrisizer. I seek such a seating die for 45-70, 475 Linebaugh, and .501-inch bullets. If such dies are not standard, are you aware of a maker who will create them especially for me?

Don't know of any such, but holding the checked end of a boolit in the top of an appropriately sized Lee Factory Crimp Die and operating it is a make-do that works. Look for a die made for a cartridge case with a neck diameter similar to your boolit. Adjust the die for the proper final sized diameter of the crimped on check.

Why not just buy a Lee push through sizer of the diameter you need? The Lee sizers crimp gas checks nicely, and don't have to size the boolit.

Ditto on what 454 said. Buckshot will also make custom sizes.

So say you want a die that will crimp on the check for your .501 inch bullet without sizing. Just order it in .501 or .502.

Is this product available for all three bullet sizes? If it is not, will Lee make the non-catalogued size for a reasonable price?

Lee Part numbers:
90061 = .451
96055 = .452
96056 = .454
96057 = .457
90191 = .501

Lee catalog price = $16.98 each
"other sizes can be made on a special order basis for $25.00. Allow 3 weeks for delivery"
Quoted from Lee catalog (2007)

Most dealers will charge around 60-75% of that cost but you might have to go to Lee to get the special sizes.

Also, PM Buckshot for additional information on what he would charge for custom work?
