I did some shooting on Sunday to find a load for Deer season which opens down here in South Texas Nov 1st. And yes I have a pic of the target lol. Not great but I feel good enough.
The load is the RD 350Gr GC with 52.OGr of H-322, Rem Case, Fed 210 primer and a distance of 100 yards. The one on the left of the target is me messing up. So I can not blame it on a flyer lol. But I did try powder charges from 50.0Gr through 54.0Gr of H-322. It shot the same group almost a mirror image of this one except the same place but on the left side of the target with 51.0Gr of H-322. It was weird lol. The holes even almost line up exactly lol. Except for my mess up shot on the left lol.
I plan on correcting the zero on Thursday and leave it 1 1/2 to 2 in high so it will be in the right zone out to about 130 yards.

I would like to thank Ranch Dog for all the help as well as many members here on the forum. As these were pretty much my first CAST BOOLITS. :)
And I would like to thank LARS for the Xlox I purchased from him. Great people to deal with. :)

About the XMP5744 , I have a bunch of rifles that I shoot this powder in !
25-36 Marlin
30-30 - about 6 of them ,
32-40
32 Special - 4 of them ,
33 WCF
356 WIN
375 WIN
38-55 - a pair ,
38-56 WCF
40-65 WCF
40-82 WCF
444 Marlin - no less then 7 of them ,
45-70 - three of these !
As far as cast bullets are concerned in "normal" lever action cartridges XMP5744 hes become my number 1 powder hands down !
In the near future I think I'm gonna try it in the 35 REM and 450 Marlin .

6pt-sika I remember your XMP lol. And good talking to you about it. Ranch Dog (Michael) is the one that informed me of the H-322. He said that things are close between that and BenchMark. And well when I started I could find H-322 lol. And I felt with the amount of powder the 45-70 will use I only looked for the 8 pounder.
The good part is the RD350Gr GC shoots darn close to the J Word Hornady 350 J/Rn with 53.0Gr of H-322. I just wanted to shoot a BOOLIT I made instead of buying them. That way I do not have to worry if a shop has what I need. :)

Right now I only load for the .357Mag/.44Mag/Spec/ 45-70 THUMPER. Caution this load does THUMP A BIT lol. :)
Today I took the Marlin 1895GS 45-70 back out again today since I adjusted the sights cold at home. And thought I should go out just to make sure all is good. Glad I did lol. So here is a lessen kids lol. Do not assume.
Took only 5 shots. The bottom one then readjusted the site and then the second from the bottom and bingo I was there so I placed 3 shots. A Half inch group center to center is not bad in my book. But I could be wrong lol.
And yes I wanted it a bit high for 130 yard shots. I am not sure if I am correct in this so any thoughts would be great.
Load is the RD350GR GC with 52.OGr of H-322 ,Rem Case,Fed 210 Primer.
These were done at 100 yards not 50 Folks lol. :)

I did some bench testing with this bullet in my .450 Marlin guide gun last Monday.
I used H4198, 42 and 44 grains. Very pleasant round from the bench. Very accurate (sub 2" @100 yards) and perfect velocity for what my plans are (150-200yd max cow elk load).
The rounds ran 1650-1750 and kicked about the same as a 7mm Mag off the bench. A much better/shooter friendly load than the full power stuff.

Glad it worked well for you. :) As I might even look into loading it a bit slower lol. As at 1950FPS it does THUMP a bit lol. Well a bit much really even with the LimbSaver pad on it lol. Once or even a few times but it sure does start to bark after 30 rounds from the bench. And I wish I could say I am a light weight but at 265LBS I am not lol.
I have tried the RD460-425Gr a bit but need more testing at this time but I did get right at 2 Inch groups with those at 100 yards but they THUMP more than the 350Gr by a good margin lol.
BTW: I used 1:1 WW/PB and water dropped the bullets. Size with .460" die, insert gas check, lube with Paraffin/Beeswax/Vaseline after sizing/gas checks. I noticed no leading to speak of. These things just shoot and shoot and shoot. I wish I would have started loading these for my GG when I first bought it. I might not have gotten tired of it kicking me to death.

I shoot that 425 bullet (without a gas check) over 20.0 grains of Alliant 2400 and half a grain of poly fill. It makes one heck of a fun plinking load. Runs 1250 fps from my GG and velocity strings run from 1245fps to 1255. Kicks probably about as much as my 1894 .44 mag. :)

Hmmmmmmm well with my Lee 310Gr in my Marlin 1894 does thump a bit lol. Nothing like the 45-70 though lol.
I did send you an offer on the 425Gr but it looks like you have it lol. Happy THUMPING lol.

I shot some of those bullets at the range a few weeks ago and my buddy said:
"I can tell it's you because it sounds like someone is whacking the berm behind the target with a big old baseball bat everytime you shoot". :Fire:

Which one the 425Gr or the Lee 310Gr lol. But the 310Gr will cause a good dust storm on the berm lol. Have to wait a few sec to see the target lol.

I am still waiting for Boomer Mikeys Groop buy Plain Base Version of this . Your groops make me wnt it even more. I have several 45/70's to feed and I am looking forward to saving some lead because most of my shooting is at 100 Yds . shooting 405gr and 500gr at that distance is wasteing some lead. I really want to shoot it in the contender hunter! J.Michael

I got both the 350 and the 425 RD molds before he closed up. I've only done a limited amount of test shooting with them as I have been shooting paper patch in my 45/70's but they were shooting fine, I was using RL7 to push them.:Fire::drinks:
