Was in the local shop today picking up a new rifle and looking around. Stumbled across an old Herters O frame press ( offset from centerline) with the cast iron handle and 1 shell holder in it a pacific durachrome die in the top. Clean looking paint was in good shape , brown wrinkle coat. I thought about it but they were asking $75.00 on the tag which I thought was on the steep side.
This was a longtime operating shop in the area and was recently sold when the owner died. Its changed quite a bit now and almost all new help. One good thing is transfers went down to $25.00. But Im not sure I like the other changes.
As I said I thought the above press was on the high side what do you guys think?

I'm no expert, but I seem to be a sucker for old reloading tools and if it looked unusual, I'd have probably tried to deal on it. For a good press that doesn't need any work, a $75 price tag is pretty good if you need one.

This is the Herters Super O. If this is it, then $75 is a steal. Especially since you don’t have the pay $50-60 to ship this beast. It feels like it is at least 30 pounds. And the handle yoke has roller bearings. The casting is a bit rough, but this press can handle most chores. Not as strong as the RCBS A series or Rockchucker, but those are overbuilt for most chores anyway.

Or it is an O-3 which is a great press. The Super O Lubedude mentioned does not have a cast iron handle. $75 is not to bad a price by eBay standards. And you get one of Herter's better designs.

The one at the shops frame looked similar but it definitely had a cast iron handle lever. 30lbs - 40lbs is about right for weight. It is a heavy solid press no doubt.

This is the Model O-3, the only O frame Herter's press with a cast handle, The other 4 models have a rod handle.
