I picked this gun up a while back, I wanted a newer lever gun but something I really couldn't get as an original so I bought one of the new production Winchester 1866 Yellowboy short rifles. These have a 20 inch round barrel and this one is in .45 Colt, so it goes well with my Vaquero and my latest handgun, a #3 Uberti Schofield Wells Fargo. Not to mention it would be fun to try this out on whitetails if possible. I really like it and even tried it out to 125 yards with factory Winchester ammo.

Man-- that is a really beautiful rifle. I've shied away from them for years because they are brass, and instead went with the 1873, but your photo is just about enough to make me want one. In fact -- I do want one! :D

That is a great lookin rifle. How is your trigger? Heavy or medium?

My 73 with its 16 inch barrel is a hoot to shoot with a 454260 Accurate Molds boolit lubed with SPG and holding 35 grains of Ol E 2Fg powder OR 8 grains Unique and sparked up with Fed LPM primers ( woulda used non magnum primers but currently out ).

My rifle likes these two loads a lot shooting rested into 1.5 inch group at 30 to 35 yards.

I bet your rifle will do great with these loads as well.

My next rifle will be a 38 WCF or 44 WCF short rifle from Uberti ... leaning very heavy towards the 38 WCF. Would get another Miroku but they dont make the 38 WCF that I know of
