Help with Lyman molds

I have 4 molds but don't know or can find any info on them.

1. Lyman 247496 2 cavity
2. Ideal 311419 2 cavity
3 & 4 Ideal/Lyman both are marked the same 311227

Can someone help me out? Much Thanks

No 247496, but a 245496 is an 84 grain gas check Loverin style.

311419 is an 88 grain gas check RNFP with a single narrow lube groove above the check shank.

311227 is a 90 grain plain base RN with 2 generous lube grooves.

Generally the the IDEAL # is the same basic # as Lyman.... Lyman bought the old Ideal company out and took over the name and line.. then added to it and now dropped into obscurity...

Looks like the last 2 could be M1 Carbine bullets, or used in a .30 Mauser, or light bullet plinkers in just about any .30 bore. Depending how large they drop they might be good for the various .32 handgun chamberings as well.

My 23C Savage in .32-20 really likes the 311419. A shame they discontinued it.

How do you like that savage 23c ? The reason I ask is that I came so close to getting one at the Pony express gun store (long gone) in the san Fernando valley years ago. I liked the early classic lines but didn't cast or reload at the time so I reasoned that it would be to expensive to shoot. If it had been a 23b (25/20) I might of gotten It despite the ammo cost. Either way I bet they are fun to shoot!. I didn't miss out entirely with savage bolt guns, I did manage to find a model 1920 in 300 savage cal. that shoots lyman 311329's real well ,but for plinking and all around fun shooting that 23c seems like it would be hard to beat!

I have 3 Savage 23's, 2-25WCFand 1 32 WCF. I also have the 22lr version. GREAT rifles.

I can see you guys like savage 23's ! They are kind of unique.I don't know of any other 25.20 / 32.20 chambered bolt guns and of course how often do you see a one piece barrel and reciever? And come to think of it, wasn't the model 23 the first bolt gun that you don't have to alter the bolt to mount a scope?
I guess the model 23 joins the list with all the other guns I should of got over the years-but didn't. Now a quick check of gun-broker and auction arms shows few examples and expensive prices . oh well, I did my best to have the foresight to buy the pre-war classics before they were priced out of reach , I got some but no were near all the one's I wanted. Now I think of all the times I passed on buying a gun because "I'll see a better example" or "I can find one cheaper"-and then never did!
