The wife has gestational diabetes. Diabetes runs in her family so it might not go away.

Well she uses CVS and gets cvs brand alcohol prep pads for her testing. I noticed they were just a little over 1" square but 1/16+ thick. Looks like a compressed cotton pad or some kind of felt. I had her save me a few to test, and bobs your uncle, they are just right for 30 caliber rifle. A little tighter on the jag than the patch loop but that's to be expected. They have a little bit of lint but not much, being ready cut I'm willing to compromise.

She now has a box and strict instructions.

Thought I'd share.

Bazoo - I always carried a number of them in my hunting pouch when hunting with BP years ago - the kind I carried unfolded and were a heavy paper type. They worked great for wiping the barrel out between shots and removing fouling. IIRC, the brand might have been BD. The alcohol world great. I've never used them to clean cartridge rifles/pistols but they would work great as you state.

Congrats on the baby - hope all goes well for you all!

Lori has diabetes and has acquired a lot of those pads. I somehow inherited several boxes of them. I have them in the shed, the car, my range bag and my ammo bag.

They are really handy when you do stupid man stuff at the range.

I'm not using them wet, she uses them and let's them dry and I'm using them as normal patches.

Thanks bedbugbilly.

Good tip.

The past few years, I've just been going to a fabric store, buying a yard of regular white flannel and I keep it by my gun cleaning stuff with a pair of scissors. I cut whatever size patch I need, works pretty well and it's cheap.

I just use my -T- shirt for patches. Old -T- shirt that is. Wife frowns on me using the new ones.

I picked up a trick from the benchrest guys at a club I used to go to. They would cut up paper towels into approximately 1x2" pieces or so and wrap them around a half worn out bore brush, anoint them with bore cleaner and stroke the bore, usually one trip, and unwrap them at the muzzle. The bristles provide outward pressure and it works very well. One paper towel makes a pile of patches. Cheapest source I've found.

I like to push a patch soaked in 009 then leave it soak while I clean other bits of gun then just dry patches till the come out clean.using hornaday one shot dry lube at the moment to see if it works as well as claimed.

I've used Scott shop towels with good success in the past but I'm too stingy to buy them now.

Whatever happened to the company that made patches out of recycled panties from a women's prison? The story alone was worth the $10/1000 they were charging. Good patches too!

It was probably cut and pasted general terms and conditions. It ships from Amazon, I doubt they will read the description, based on their track record.

Not $10 anymore. Might have been the first time. I was halfway through my second 1,000 bag when they failed a fire resistance test.

Thanks for the posts!

Mal, do you really want female stuff in your gun?!?

I thought about using my old shorts but the brown spots might add to the confusion.

LOL You guys made my morning!

There are probably as many panties in the patches as there is Silver in Lazercast Bullets. It looks like new material cut in several inch stacks on a large pattern cutter.
