I just bought another S&W 500 Magnum. Had one 10 years ago and sold it. Wanted to get another. Loaded and cast for it back then. I don't remember seeing a large variation in load data though. Lee dies, and the Hodgdon 2019 load manual both state for the Lee 440gr GC bullet, 30.0 - 35.0gr of H Lil Gun. The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook states 27.4 - 30.5 as the low and high end.

My bullets also vary in weight some. Copper Gator checks with lube average 451.2gr. Powder coated with aluminum GC run right at 440gr. I figure I can use the same load for both. Not loading for precision, just general accuracy at 30-40yrds.

Mine vary in weight also and 10-12 gr's heavier never hurt although I curbed soft lead a touch on next batch. (I PC mine). After trying several H-110 ladder loads, I mainly resort to IMR-4227 as accuracy improved greatly.

What does Lyman list as the pressure? Some of their lead loads are pretty conservative. Hodgdon’s online shows the 30 grain load at 40,200. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lyman stopped alround there just because...
