I enjoyed it. I was at the Sheriff's range one day when it was supposed to be open to everyone, but I saw that the deputies were training. I got some strange looks until the Instructor introduced me, then they relaxed some. I couldn't shoot, but was allowed to quietly observe. No model 10's, just Glocks. And some people were terrible shots!

Another great one! I think the K frame 6 shot revolver is still a very viable law enforcement pistol, and you proved it.

Thanks for the kinds words everyone! I enjoyed shooting this course with the Model 10. Something just seems right with the world when you're shooting a fine revolver. Thanks also for the Il course Tazman, that was one I was having some trouble getting. Now I have to figure out which firearm to use for it!

Thanks, Howard. The model 10 (and then, later, the stainless version) served me well for a very long time in my department. Living in humid central, the stainless had advantages, but I still preferred the blue steel.

THAT'S AWESOME !

Love those 4" K-frames in 38 Special.

That was good shooting, thanks for sharing that.

You're welcome! and thanks to all for watching! I like the stainless revolvers too, and they are certainly practical in certain climates. Even so, there is just something about nice wood and blued steel.

Illinois State Troopers use the Glock 22 in 40S&W IF you have one already or know how to resource one for your next test.

Chicago PD has a convoluted listing of the pistols authorized for the use of their police officers based off their date of hire. That directive dated August of 2018 is at this link.

Looking at the list of models and calibers, I'd recommend using the CPD list of pistols to resource from to take the test.

Bruce, that's quite a list of requirements for Chicago PD but when you read through it all, it's actually pretty liberal for anyone grand-fathered in. Of course, there probably aren't too many Chicago officers left with hire dates prior to 1991.

The only way it would be better is with a pencil barrel M&P! That was fun, keep up the good work.

Wow! That might just be the most convoluted and complicated firearm policy I've ever read (and I've read a bunch of them and written quite a few).

Do you have the courses of fire for Ohio yet? If not, let me know and I will send copies of all of them.

I'm an LE firearms instructor here in Ohio, so those are the ones I DO have. Thanks all the same!

Yes, but 28 years doable if they are aiming for 30 years. But most of them wouldn't be beat cops at that point I hope.

Nice shooting. How about a course with full steam 10mm?

I have that same model S&W M10. I don't think that course is much of a challenge for the handgun. Might be for the shooter, but the model 10 can almost do that on its own! I refer to mine as a radar gun since it almost shoots by itself. Unless you screw up badly with it it is almost impossible to miss. It is my favorite wheel gun for that very reason.

Hrfunk, that course could have been designed by Jim Collins, Alabama Highway Patrol. If I remember right he won several national championships. I shot against him several years, never could come close.

When you find one that works like that for you, you have found a lifelong friend. I have been blessed with a couple of guns like that.
