Hi everyone,

Does anybody happen to know a case trimmer that will work in 41 long Colt?

Also, does anyone know of a crimp tool for 41 long Colt?

I have a Lee factory crimp in .38 but I imagine this can't be modified.

I look forward to any suggestions.

Thanks.

Here's the place that sells the modified crimper & shellholder for heel-based .41 Long Colt.

Also bullet molds etc. https://oldwestbulletmoulds.com/

The heel-base mold he sells works well.

You may want to look in your chambers as some .41 LC's were bored straight thru & if using black powder loads the little extra case length won't matter.

If you have split brass, then I could see trimming once you get enough to make a "short-case" batch.

Harry O. has done a great benifit for all .41 LC shooter by sharing his research http://harryo.sixshootercommunity.org/

Have fun, shoot straight

Extra case length does matter when using a heeled boolit. The case length plus the boolit above the heel cannot exceed the cylinder length, and I'm using a custom Lee 200gr heeled HB mold so have to trim my brass to between the short Colt length and the long Colt length. I use a standard Lyman trim hand lathe to do it.

Thanks for your replies. I will be using Starline brass which is very long in an Army Special. The brass plus the heeled boolit should be too long to fit. Or so I've been told from a few sources.

I'll check out the website to look for the crimper however I haven't seen anything to do with a case trimmer on any of the links. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

The standard small lathe type trimmer that everyone makes works - Mine in Lyman but RCBS and Redding at least make them too.

As previously mentioned. I purchased a crimping die from them for a 32 Long Colt--Works very well...
