Just received a pound of BE-86. Alliant lists 38 Spl +P with 158 gr JHP 5.7 grs (no cast) (would you recommend a JHP load for a cast 158 gr SWC?) and 38 Spl std vel with 158 gr cast using 4.6 grs. I’ll start at 5.0 grs and work up to 5.6 grs for a +P loading using 158 gr SWC.

Alliant does list 8.1 grs and 158 gr cast bullet for 357 Magnum. I intend to load ten at 7.0 grs, 7.5 grs and 8.0 grs in my Ruger B/H 4 5/8.

Not seeing too much data for 38/357 on this site.

Any help is appreciated

I tryed it with a LBT-150gr OWC. .357. I went up to 8.2gr's but 8gr's gave me the best groups. I was shooting them in a 4'' Ruger Security six. I had been using 15gr's of 2400. but tryed BE-86 when I couldn't find any 2400. From what I could find I think the 8gr load should be about a 100 fps slower than the 2400 load. But I think I may stay with it for that boolit and save the 2400 for my 358156 in my BH.

As a side note I didn't relize how clean it was till I shot some .38's loaded with Red Dot afterwords.

I have been loading 7.1 gr BE-86 with Summers HI-Tek 158 cast rnfp in mixed 357 cases with standard WW and CCI primers. A couple of my shooting buddies are loading 7.5 same bullets primers and cases.
I don’t load any +p 38
I working my way through several pounds of assorted pistol powders and am going to only keep 3 for pistols
I have replaced Unique with BE-86 but most of my light loads are with red dot. I still have 3 lbs of 296 when I get it shot I will use 300-MP for mag pistol loads.
