I've got a pair of USFA SAA's. My most recent is a 4 3/4" , .38 Special ,matte nickle Rodeo. I've carried it all over the place this summer and it's worked out well for me. NOW I need a new set of grips for it. Can't take much more of the brown PLASTIC grips that came OEM.

I'm sure many of You here play Cowboy and are active in the SASS. Who makes wood grips or Stags???

With the matte nickel finish I thought figured, darker wood would look good. I'm open to any other ideas.........especially digitals.

Where is Craig? I go to Shiloh at Big Timber and the Quigley shoot at Forsyth....I love Montana in the summer! BUT winter anywhere ain't my favorite!

For stags, there's stag-grips.com...William Jennings in Buffalo Wyoming. I stopped off on the way to Quigley in 2007 with a pair of Ruger BISLEY VAQUEROS and another with a DRAGOON grip frame....$600 later I had some outstanding elk stags on all three.

Cary Chapman at clccustomgrips.com makes excellent grips...he's an icon over on Ruger forum.

Klamath river wood works has some nice looking grips. Lots of wood options.

My personal favorite for stainless/nickle finish is EAGLE GRIPS Gunfighter model in black water buffalo horn. (I have six pairs on RUGER BISLEY or DRAGOON grip frames.) The guy who designed them is a genius.

Thanks for the info. Klamath certainly has some amazing grips!! Going to look at all of them before I make a decision. I've got old Ivories on one of the USFA's but the rodeo is a "working" gun so to speak .......so wood or stag might be more appropriate.

Craig is north of Helena. I'm about 50 miles due north, along the Missouri river.

Lloyd,

I have three sets of Grashorns already. Two on J frame Smith snubbies and anoother set on a M-58 Barbecue Gun.

I think I'm going to go with WOOd on the Rodeo as it's more of a daily carry piece/working gun.

The Grashorn Elk look good on a Rodeo also.

For mine I ordered these Ivory Micarta and fit them to my Rodeo. It was some work but I'm happy with them. They are plenty oversize to allow for variances in Colts frames. I took a chance that they would work on a Rodeo and they did.
