Anyone reload for the red 9?
I have 231, universal, bullseye. Bunch of 115 and 124s also 125s at .355 and .357.
Do I load just enough to run the action? They were originally 1400 fps and thats pretty hot. Not sure I can duplicate those crazy numbers

I'd stick with milder loads with that older action to keep it running. 3 grains of red dot works pretty well depending on boolit selection.

Unfortunately I dont have any worthwhile info on this topic. But I’ve been lusting one of these for the past year. Would you mind posting a pic of your pistol? Finding a decent one with all numbers matching without costing an arm and a leg is proving challenging.

It was a arm and a leg. 3k with no stock/holster. However its all matching including the grips. Rifling is sharp with a clean bore. I went in to get a luger. They talked me into the c96.
And yes I will shoot it. Lol. Wont have it until the end of the month due to Cali stupid laws.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/3318980d961bbb33ea7ac0aaf4bda685.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/58d65cfa11fe4c10a0d3aeeb9144fab9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/4db648e2783a2bc72e2a9ec43251d0ca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/d3f5b32cd286e83b4e1f31eae240bfbd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/04250db7eb0a7aedd5e7943c239def4a.jpg

Ahhh you’re the same guy on Calguns! I replied on your other thread over there. Should have figured it was you. Did you bring it home yet? Thanks for the pics

$3k is about what I’ve been seeing them for. Considering letting go of my SA professional to fund this. It’s an existential crisis for me as I’ve always been a 1911 guy and (minus my 1918 CMP 1911) I’m currently down to my only 1911.

Imho for the price? 2 colt nat match? But the red9 is kind of different. Dont ever remember seeing one at the range.
Lol do it! I sold off a rifle or two to fund my mauser.

My DAD, loaded LYMAN #356402, sized .356 cast of straight Linotype, 117grs over a Max charge of Bullseye, a MAX Charge back 50yrs+ ago. This gun needs to function at full throttle.

Of course that was 50+yrs ago. The #356402 was the original bullet configuration for the 9mmLuger.
But even FMJ's were considered by the WW1 Allies to be overly destructive.
So they changed to RN.

That driving band on the bullet will catch trying to feed.

Truncated Cone with a light Taper Crimp will feed perfectly.

I hate auto-correct on this blasted tablet.

Please post a range report when you get to shoot her.

Very nice! I wouldn't worry about the strength much.

At the time, those pistols used the same ammo as 9mm submachineguns, very +++P by today's standards. That ammo is still being sought after by collectors here, they actually shoot it,too.

I guess im over thinking?

I would still at least replace the bolt stop with a reproduction and replace all the springs. It’s about 100 years old with an unknown round count. 1) it would suck to have a matching numbered part break on a $3k piece 2) the bolt would fly into your face.

I have C96 that I had re-bored & chambered to 38 Super. I found that the TC design feeds best, the Lyman 356402. I used 5.0 gr 231 for 1170 fps, relatively mild for the gun design. It is accurate.

Bolt stop on its way too.
Thanks for the tip!
