I've been looking for the info an the pressure testing of the Chinese M87 12ga shotguns, but can't seem to find it anywhere. I thought it was here: http://coyotecap.com/index.html , but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.
Does anyone remember the details, or where the info is?
I thought they were proof tested up around 45-50kpsi. This was for the forged frame Chinese guns that came in in the 2000s. I don't know if any of that applies to the current guns that are being imported or not.
Here's a pic of my gun.

SAAMI lists 12 ga proof loads at 2 3/4" = 20,500 psi and 3 1/2" = 24500 psi max

CIP pressures are similar to SAAMI. I highly doubt that the ChiComs deviate from CIP standards for export items.

I'm not talking about SAAMI standards.
I believe that it was White labs did a test on them when they were first being imported, in the early 2000s I think, and got up to 45,000 or 50,000psi without any problems. I thought that the info was posted on the Coyote Cap website way back when. I was just wondering if anyone remembered more details about it than I did.

Hope you wear your EOD bomb suit when testing those loads. Not a good idea...

Never heard of a shotgun running that hot, but as Outpost said... Wear protection. I have an original 1887. Keep in mind the actions are the same, just the materials they used were different.

Ps: They aren't the strongest actions.

Also keep in mind that, even if HP White tested chinese 1887 actions made in 2000, and they held to 45 KPsi,
that doesn't mean that the ones built in 2019 are exactly the same and will still take 45 KPsi.

The chinese manufacturing culture is all about the cost to manufacture, and they are constantly changing things to
reduced cost, which typically reduces the quality, sometimes drastically.

I wouldn't risk my head or face on it.

Also keep in mind, are those proof power loads "proving" that the action will take those loads forever/indefinitely,
or are those proof power loads weakening the action such that the next load will fail catastrophically?

Nietzsche was *wrong*, what doesn't kill you does NOT make you stronger.

OUR NEW GUN - - THE M-93/97

This new shotgun is deliberately re-designed, with the same care and attention that went into the new M-87 lever action shotguns.

The plan was to build a shotgun, with all the improvements of the first Norinco and later IAC M-97's, but with the added nostalgia and period correct design of the original John Browning designed M-93.

The new M-93/97 goes back to everything that worked and worked safely, but with new inventions and a lot of modern updates and materials. A prototype was sent to be pressure tested and it passed with flying colors at well over 37,000 lbs. This is due to the heavier and thicker frame and modern steel used for construction and the "superstrong" barrels.
