Greetings Scott, its based on your barrel ID dimensions specially at the muzzle.
Here is the chart:

Don't forget the fact that the wads are designed for shot load and when we load heavier loads we need to help the wad survive the much much heavier load by adding nitro cards like this:

Look for better prices by buying bulk from Circle Fly.

**--** Give your load a much needed lending hand, you'll smile with the results in the end.
Hoping it helps.

I'm trying to find a shot cup for this project
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?380553-678-RB-amp-69-Cal-Minie-range-report
The projectile will not sit flat in the shot cup with out a nitro card, with the card I get a poor roll crimp. That's why I had to "tent" the os card and glue it in place.

I do not want a wad without the hard card. The cards you seem to be worried about are for wad height.
But one of the big reason for the hard card is to keep the wad from forming and adhering to the RB wrecking accuracy when it does.

Thanks GinNH,
No worries about that, I fill the hollow base of the .69 Minie with hot glue, so I'm dealing with a good solid surface.
