There are a lot of what ifs and as shooters we always like to experiment. But if we played more cards, we would find that we want a good strong hand right off and not depend on how the cards flew.

If I were to get a big bore lever and wanted to get started right away, I believe that I would go with one of Ranch Dogs designs right off. Good, strong design to hold the rifling and do what needs done. His designs evidently comes pretty close to being a universal fit for as close to a guaranteed result as is possible with molds produced for mass market guns.

Then I would branch out from there as my interests expanded.

jon thats a sweet looking bullet.I have a rd 350 mold out on loan at the moment it is a good accurate bullet.I just was thinking of trying something lighter.last hog I shot was 40 yards and closing fast:-D.a long shot this year where I am going to be hunting is well under 100 yards.

The 457191 is a good mould...if you can find one that makes bullets big enough. Unfortunately most I've owned make undersize bullets. So be aware of this when trying the 457191.

The 457122 is a great bullet and I can't understand a bullet caster with a .45/70 not owning one. Yes, they're a HP but you can easily make a plug to make "solids"./beagle
