Hey all, Been a lurker for a bit, I recently aquired a nice WW2 42 August SA garand from the cmp.
I have on order a NOE bullet sizing kit with .309 bushing, (got the .356 bushing, but waiting for the push rod to come back in stock)
Anyway back on topic, I have on order a 230 grain Lee mold (TL309-230-5R)
i saw a topic on it awhile back but never got a definitive answer, Accuracy is important but with my eyes, the gun will always shoot better than I ever will open sighted.
Any suggestions to have the loads safe for the op rod but still reliably cycle?
I've seen suggestions of using 36/37 grains of 4895.
Casts will be made with Linotype. (got a good deal, 26lbs for $40)
