I was able to shoot this pistol yesterday. I have seen it in the shops and dry fired it and handled it for about a week. And one of my ranges had gotten one in for review and evaluation, so I was able to run 400 rounds through it on their dime! My findings.....FYI I use the Glock 43 as a baseline for the comparison, but could use the Shield or LC9S as well. And I see the MC1 as a competitor with those SS9s. And a disclaimer, I’m not a paid reviewer. I’m off of work with an OJI and my “life” right now is hobbling around to gun shops and drinking their coffee and shooting. The MC1 isn’t a “sexy” pistol and no one really wanted to go shoot it. I think there is a place for another good American made SS9, so I volunteered. Figured this would be a good pistol for those not really into polymer guns, or hate Glock. LOL

Just a “tad” bigger than the G43, in weight and size, the MC1 fills my hand well. And I was able to shoot it very accurately with both the flush and extended magazines. I had a better grip on the MC1 than on the G43 or EC9S. Both of those pistols I had to put a Hogue Beavertail Grip on to control and shoot comfortablely. I feel I could get by with just grip tape, like Talons, on the MC1. The MC1 does not fit my G43 Kydex holsters, But does fit the Desantis Nemesis and Sticky Holster for the G43/G42/LC9. And the MC1 carried and drawed from the pocket just like any other SS9, for me.

Magazines are interchangeable with G43s, and vice versa. And this is where I think the MC1 can clean up, but on the 2.0 version. Make the mags interchangeable with the G43X/G48, cause there is plenty of room in the MC1’s magwell. Then you have a shorter 6/7 round mag for carrry and the 10 round mag for reload/range. Mossberg does this, soon, and they will rule the SS9 realm. Sure they will beat Glock to the punch.

Trigger is flat, and good for a carry pistol. I’m guessing 6/7 pounds. Has a “stapler” sounding trigger pull, but this is polymer so........And I really like what the MC1 doesn’t have, unneeded safeties! It’s like a “Pro” version from Ruger, without waiting two years. It’s a nice flat, slick carry pistol.

The sights are Sig cut! Glock mags and Sig sights! Mossberg was listening.
For someone that replaces their carry pistols sights, it matters being able to choose right now, and not have to wait around for your favorite sight to be made. The model I **** had three dot night sights in it. Looked like Ameriglo, but might be Tru Glos. Either way, they looked good and was dead on for me.

I really liked the MC1. It felt good in hand, and was very accurate. I think it needs grip tape like Talons, cause it’s a bit slick for me. Will I sell the G43 and get one? No. Would I get one if I didn’t already have one? No again. The Glock 43 are dirt cheap right now. Same for the Shields and EC9s. The Sig P365 is pushing used G43s prices down to below $350 around here. And the MC1 is around $330(three dot white)-$400(with night sights). I couldn’t see me getting one right now, just on the financial reason. Too many other options, and the MC1 just has not been out long enough. If I had to rank my picks for SS9s, it would be G43 then Shield then MC1 then LC9S. And if someone went backwards on that list, they wouldn’t be wrong! All are good.

Due to its size, I see the MC1 as a nice belt pistol. Maybe pocket carry for bibs and bigger pocket pants. I’m a good size guy, and I can pocket carry a G26/27. The MC1 is about as large as I would pocket carry for a SS9. Anything larger and I would go to the G26/27 again.

So did Mossberg come to the party too late? I don’t think so. Always room for another well made American pistol in my safe. But I think with some many new SS9s hitting us, and the Sig P365 fiasco, buyers may wait a bit to see what happens.

Be safe,
Lefty

Thanks for the review . Good info.
I have handled one at the store but have not heard from any one that shot one.

Nice writeup. We live in luxurious times as far as choices in ccw pistols are concerned. Thank you Mossy for not creating another useless proprietary mag and sight design (like you Taurus).

Yeah, Taurus ought to be ashamed! The reason I got a G2S was because I got a lot of PT709 magazines cheap. Then they don’t fit! Stupid! At least the PT111 mags fit The G2C.

So true Ferg! Great time to be shooting and carrying.

I ain’t on TFBs payroll! LOL
I didn’t think anyone wanted to see my 5x5 or casino drill targets. :)

There are several good articles on the MC1 out there with better pictures than what I could take. A lot of “ads” too, one reason I wanted to give a real guys impression.
