The body is gaining weight and strength but a lot of small things that need changed.

I've been fighting it myself. God took and showed me a few things that have helped.
First he has a plan for me.... This plan is now!!! not somthing that is coming in the future. And this plan has nothing to do with my joy, comfort, or rest.... This plan is to be like Jeuses!! a servent!!! so others can be filled with joy, rest,and comfort. And as long as I'm focused on the people around me, and the plan he has for me in there lives. I don't have time with worry about what I'm going threw.


I'll say this works 100% of the time. As long as I'm not focused on me I'm not depressed :) now if I can only figure out how to keep my mind on God and the people around me him 100% of the time I'll never be depressed :)

Read the above at least twice! Paul tells us to "take every thought captive, for the days are evil". This suggests that we are capable of controling and changing our thinking patterns and are responsible to do so. The more I am focused on God and what He has already done for me, and am always looking for what he has for me to do I don't have a lot of thoughts that need captivity.

You're in my prayers beeman. Depression is one of the toughest things that a person can have to deal with, but Christ can see you through that or anything else. Just remember, bad things happen to good people for two reasons: 1. To teach them something; or 2. To let them show others in a similar situation how a Christian can work through anything with the aid or our Savior. Some of us are picked to provide a good example for others, who are losing their grip on it all. Keep your perspective, and keep the faith. You can handle this, even if it's not what you want. God bless you my friend.

One tip: It usually helps to get out among like-minded folks and get busy doing something. My wife manages a Christian thrift store, and a couple of her best workers are ones who are fighting depression when they're home alone. At work, they're so cheerful they usually set the mood for the whole bunch there. It's amazing how salving simple good company can provide for us, if we'll just get up and find it and use it, and not sit alone. Ask your church leaders if there's somewhere they need a good volunteer, preferably one where you'd be working with others. It can not only help, it can change your outlook 180 degrees! Hope this helps.

xbeeman, depression is like the fellow who had dug himself into a 10 foot deep hole not realizing that the metal detector signal he was following was from the steel toes in his boots. Is is so easy to keep dwelling on the same circular string of thought. How do I know this? I've been battling that demon myself since February of last year when I lost my wife, the light of my life and mother of my children. I admit that there are some days that life ain't worth the living. I keep going back to John 5,6-9 : would thou be made whole? I would Lord, the mental, the physical, and the spiritual. Things are slowly getting better in His time. I have two wonderful kids, the people here, and the folks in my community for support. It will be OK over time, so will it be for you. Prayers sent. I know your situation because I to suffer from depression. I laid in bed for 5 years before I got some relief. First ask around and find the best mental health you can. I had to change doctors with totally different medicines before I starting getting better. The first was well respected but he seemed entrenched in the medicines he prescribed.
Try to find something you like to do within a group of people. While your mind is occupied you will not be thinking negatively.

Just spoke to Charles he is in good spirit. His phone is back up and runing. I'll let him tell that story. :)

I'm not much on relaying secound hand info but if I understood correctly....they know what is causing his version isues and they are developing a plan to treat it

Charles we are still praying for you and your family every day. Mary was in hospital Thursday night with stomach virus. Spent much of that time praying for you and her. Keep holding the Lord's robe he heals.

Just talked to Charles . He sounds better . Waiting for test results on his eyes , blood sugar is fluctuating too much . He still needs your prayers . He thanks you for your prayers and concern . If your messaging him (hope you are) he has trouble returning them but can have them read to him .
Please lift him up in your prayers . In these situations where distance is a barrier for us it is not for our Lord .

Lord be with Charles in this hard time . Help his family through his troubles . Lift him up through your healing Lord and bring him back here with us . Thank you for all you do . Amen

I talked to Charles today . He is feeling some better . His vision is not good enough to return massages but he is getting them . He thanks everyone for the encouragement and prayer for him . He is lined up with specialists for his vision problem . He is told the damage can't be reversed but can be stabilized .

Now for my two cents worth . Charles has been putting up with this trouble since at least last fall . His weight has declined far too low . He's still on a feeding tube . That he had a bout of depression is totally understandable . He has lead an active life , he has sold his bee business not being able to take care of them . I don't believe I say anything here that he wouldn't say himself . Please stay in prayer for his situation . I know him to be a good man . He himself has helped others here .

Well, I jumped on here just on a whim...but I’ve learned long ago that nothing is just on a whim. The first thing I read is this post, and the thing that is rolling out of my spirit is “Charlie, the joy of the Lord is your strength. To access that joy, you’ve got to keep your mind on Christ. Purposefully think on the things that God has done for you.

I’m praying for you...and I’m confident that the Lord hears our prayers and answers them.

A bit of a update.

Been almost 3 weeks with the Giant Cell Artharitis and the left eye is focusing better. Right is till a blur (20-200). go back to the eye dr today and hope to find out what they see in my future vision.

Bigist problem for Me now is contoling the blood sugar with the high steoids they have me on. Starte insulin today and hope to bring it back to the 120s or so from 250+

another bump in the road today. Started on insulin and instead of dropping sugar levle it raised it to oveer 400. was told to take back to walmart for refund by dr and changed brands.

Charles called me yesterday. He is some better and doing therapy trying to extend the range in his walking . Prayer is still needed in his situation . Please pray for Charles .

Still praying for you. Guy runs A/V at church, cancer in eye socket so they took it & part of socket last week. Came in today and said it worked well for 80 yrs so he can't complain.

Charles, I have read all 57 posts on this thread. Every one of them are uplifting, positive, and most importantly they are bombarding heaven in your behalf. The brothers here have you covered in prayer. You are going to make it. The Lord is on your side in this and as scripture says "If the Lord is for you, who can be against you?" So I am adding my prayer to all of the others to pray that the Great Physician, The El Shadday (The God who provides my refuge) will bring total and complete healing to you both physically and spiritually. Our enemy, the devil has come to steal, kill, & destroy, but He came that we might have abundant life. It's time for that abundant life to begin!
